The city of Halabja is located in the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq. Since the devastating gas attack from 1988 she is a symbol of human suffering in become this region. Since 2010, the “Kirkuk Center for Torture Victims” has been building with the support of the Federal Republic Germany opened a trauma center in Halabja.
The center wants to do future work in a society in which generations of people shaped by totalitarianism, trauma and terror have been. It wants help for people without Respect of their age, their sex, their ethnic or religious affiliation or provide conviction. At the same time arises in the
City of Chamchamal a center for traumatized children and young people.
